Crazy weather.

As the weather has finally calmed down from its rain, sun, hail, sun, rain, pattern. I've finally managed to take the dogs for a big hour and forty-five minute walk (they did go for an hour and a half yesterday before the rain started) I've also sown my second row of peas in the home garden. I'll probably put the lettuce seeds in between the rows either tomorrow or Friday. And now I'm going to have a bit of a rest and sort my work stuff out before I have to go to work. :/

Resting.

After everything I've done this week and after three very busy days at work, I am having a rest for a bit. I am beyond tired. I feel shocking. :S

Wednesday 23 March 2016

It wasn't all bad.

I took Trouble for a biggish walk after we'd been to the allotment.

She had a good time hunting for mice.

And being crazy. You kinda have to hum adventure music when she's off the lead

Everything is just so exciting.

The owners of the land here have just dug this up. Isn't it stunning!?

The second trip to the allotment and this time I took Niche. She's much slower and doesn't go very far.

I had more time to look at the trees.

She enjoys having some time away from the puppy.

After two trips on foot to the allotment carrying as much compost as I could comfortably carry, and still handle a dog, I managed to cover this much of my broad bean bed...

It doesn't look too bad in this picture.

But how about now...

And how about now. :'( Lol. I'll get there in the end. I'll be getting a lift with some more compost on Saturday. (if all goes well)

Tuesday 22 March 2016

Well I managed to spend almost four hours at the allotment today.

I got two of the beds looking halfway decent. This first picture shows what is going to be my artichoke bed. Jerusalum artichokes at the top and globe at the bottom.

I started to put broad beans in this bed but had to stop at one row as I was running out of light. I've also (with some help from my BF) taken down the strange netted roof off the broad bean bed, but I was loosing too much light to take a picture.

I will return tomorrow (time and energy allowing) to photograph the bed without its roof and to put the rest of the broad beans into the bed.

This is what both beds looked like when I started work on them today. I'm going to be very sore in the morning.

Melon Ogen.

I'm quite excited about growing these this year. :)I'm hopeful that these will do well. They better do at £3.00 a packet. They're a mini melon so you get quite a few on each plant, apparently they taste amazing. If I finally manage to get a melon to ripen in my garden, I'll hopefully be able to find out.

More chuffed than I should be.

My chickens eggs just fit into my new egg cups. :)

Friday 18 March 2016

Egg cups, seed and seedling madness.

I couldn't resist them! They're SOOO cute! Bit tiny for my giant eggs though.

I've officially run out of space on my potting bench. I will have to get one of my massive dad made benches back.

I've gone a bit mad and I've just sown some dwarf sunflowers, dwarf rudbeckia, regular rudbeckia, double flowered dahlia, leeks (giant square pot nearest camera in first pic) Geranium pratense, and a type of ground cover clematis.

This is the cut and come again salad leaf. I'll put some in-between the peas rows.

Little spider. sorry its blurred.

Kale

red sprouts.

Thyme. Squint and you'll see it.

Japanese anemone, not been doing much in the cold.

Purple sprouting broccoli.

broccoli.

Mustard. :)

Gardeners delight tomatoes. I've also had my sweet baby and sweet aperitif tomatoes germinate but it wouldn't let me upload the picture. 15 little tomato seedlings altogether.

Monkey flower, mimulus. Two tiny dots of green.

Pepino, one tiny green speck.

Two Moringa about two weeks apart.

Wednesday 16 March 2016

Getting up at 5:45 sucks.

I used to be a very early morning person but that was when I could just stay at home. I have to leave the house at 7am to go to work. And next week I have to start work at 7am. Ooohhh when will I get a nice new job. Please send me some good job vibes everyone.

March 16.

It is March 16th and I've just sown my Hurst green shaft peas. I know its a bit of a gamble but I've done it now. Hopefully it'll be fine.

This bed was going to have leeks in it, but to be honest, I'd rather have lots of peas. I can put leeks in at the allotment.

I'll put another two sowings in behind this one in two week intervals, and I'll add some chard or something at the end.

I will also be adding more string as the peas get taller.

Monday 14 March 2016

Prep.

I dug over four of the raised beds and used my home-made compost to cover two of them.

My parsnip bed is being left without compost until the spring.

This is the potato bed all dug over and covered in my best compost.

Three lovely beds ready for the season to start.

Three not quite so lovely beds. The garlic bed which needs hoeing again, the middle bed which needs digging over/weeding and covering in compost. The last bed has been half covered in shop bought peat free compost and I'll probably add more shop bought and see if there is a difference between that and my home-made. That bed is for my salad leaves and lettuce.

Sunday 13 March 2016

Spring madness.

These are some saved sweet pea seeds from my dads garden. It just said purple and blue on the envelope they were in. I'll sow my shop bought sweet peas about 10 days after these.

Mustard cress for my sandwiches and salads. This window is actually quite bright until about 3pm.

My sunniest windowsill, which isn't actually that sunny but the best I have.

I've used up all of the space now.

These four pots are my edible banana 'ensete glaucum' seeds. They can grow to be 10 feet tall so they might turn out to be a mistake... We shall see.

My tomatoes gardeners delight have germinated on the windowsill. I'm just waiting for everything else to hurry up.

The potting table in my greenhouse is full as well.

Lots of things have started germinating though, my kale for example.

My mixed salad leaves.

Of the two pots with seedlings my purple sprouting broccoli is at the top, and regular broccoli is at the bottom.

Red Brussels sprouts.

And one of my Japanese anemone have germinated. :)
We're getting warmed up, I'm ready and waiting.
