Comfrey.

Comfrey!

comfrey

comfrey

And a whole lot more comfrey.

This was just along the canal this morning!

I pulled a few leaves to put in my compost pile as I was passing it.

I also found some horse radish

Orange balsam D:

And a rather disconcertingly green canal. I managed to pick a few handfuls of elderberry berries as I went too.

Once I got back home it wasn't too long before these beauties arrived in the post. Solar powered torches/lanterns that also charge your mobile phones!

Friday 9 September 2016

A lots been happening.

Well, I guess I have a lot to catch up on. On Wednesday at about 4-o-clock when we were out on a walk, Niche lost the use of her back legs, and then her eyes started moving left to right at speed. Her face was frozen in a rictus of horror. Assuming the worst we rushed to the vets with the OH carrying a completely immobile dog. When I got to the reception desk I managed to gasp through my tears that she was having a stoke.
I got rushed into a consultation room by a veterinary nurse and the vet turned up almost immediately. She gave Niche a thorough going over and told us that she isn't having a stroke, but she is having a problem with her inner ear and it is making her feel like she is really drunk.
Imagine the relief we felt. Now, apparently it's not a great thing to have happen as it is something that can recur. But it's not as bad as a stroke. And after some antibiotics and steroids my girl appears to be as good as new. (touch wood)

I've also been to the doctors and have been put on tablets to stop myself from getting a stomach alcer/heal my stomach ulcer. And we've put another home brewed wine on the go.

That's mac and cheese behind it, ignore that. This is our summer fruit wine. We sieved it through muslin twice

it's a mixture of five different fruits and berries.

Blackberry, raspberry, elderberry, plum and strawberry. It smelt amazing! It's now sitting next to the blackberry wine we made three days earlier and the two airlocks are plipping away quite happily.

Monday 5 September 2016

We finally got the blackberry wine demi johned up.

For the last three days I've barely slept. Every night I've been in discomfort and pain and I finally caved and called the doctor as I think I have a stomach ulcer. I've been given some medicine but it's not doing anything for the pain so I am scared to eat. :/ I really hope this medicine heals me quickly so that I can get better and get some sleep.

Nettle seeds!

I filled these two little pots and an egg cup with nettle seeds. I wonder how long they will last me/last before going moldy?

Tomatoes.

I had a lot that had split due to irregular watering (my fault) but the chicken got those and enjoyed them so I didn't have any waste.

Friday 2 September 2016

I just got back from my favorite shop. :)

WILKOS! :D I bought a new watering can for £2.00. Cheap and cheerful.

I bought seeds that had all been reduced! 50p for wilkos branded stuff and £1 for named stuff.

I bought some meal worms for my molting chooks.

Misfits for the doggos.

Dreamies for the puddin',
and from the local pet shop I bought a giant bag of snake bedding.

Wilkos always cheers up my day.

How are they hiding from me?!!!

I checked them yesterday but today I still found this!

Its MASSIVE!!

Lets compare it to the last "massive" marrow I found. Its double the size. I can't believe I didn't see that yesterday.
