I also rescued four more ex-battery hens.

New members to the family.

As I alluded to in the previous post I have made some new friends since I regularly posted on this blog.
In August my partner and I went to a birthday party in Norfolk, whilst there we (cough) drunkenly acquired our new friend. He has been named by my other half and is called Hodor.

As you can see, Trouble loves him very much.
This week he was neutered, micro-chipped and will eventually be allowed outside. But not for at least another five weeks.
We also gained a beautiful Normal common boa constrictor, he's only 6 months old and still a bit snippy with me. He'll get used to me. He's thankfully since stopped sleeping on the heat matt like this.

Corn snake babies.

I am so sorry that I haven’t updated everyone about the corn snake babies. My laptop (another one) died and looking after twenty baby snakes is really time consuming.

As I said above we got twenty healthy babies to hatch and we thought that we were done and had done really well getting so many eggs. Unfortunately we were not done and Butters got egg bound.

After over a month of trying to get the eggs out and her laying the odd egg in her viv we went to the vets and got the biggest egg, that was really stuck, out. After which she laid even more eggs a few days later. All together Butters laid 33 eggs, but the thirteen that got stuck were no good (despite one looking really healthy) and didn't hatch. Butters is absolutely fine now, eating and back to her normal self. I've sold all of the baby snakes apart from two dodgy eaters who aren't ready and one last Normal boy.

I also have even more news to add but perhaps not to this rather long post. We have gained seven more members to our furry, scaley and feathery family that I will tell you about in the next post.

23 days until butters eggs hatch.

Butters my butter corn snake laid 22 fertile eggs and two slug eggs over a month ago.
It's not too long now until they hatch.

I'm not sure what colour babies we'll get, but its very exciting!

Some of the eggs have 'windows' so I can see inside them a little bit. :D

2019

Well, it's 2019 and I've been through the wringer for the last six months or so. I've been struggling with working far from home, with a dark and long commute by bus and foot through very rough areas that added too much time to my time away from home and just left me exhausted.

I've now left that job and I'm waiting to start a new job with less hours and that is closer to home, I'm making the most of this time with redecorating the house and garden and really enjoying my time at home with all of the animals.

I also got a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome around six months ago, which has been something to get used to and I've been saddened by a total lack of help from the local Autistic charities in helping me to understand just what sort of help would be out there for me. Seemingly there's none.
